Berlin

The last time I went to Berlin was in the 1980's! The wall was still up! So I thought why not go back to see what I remembered. (Answer: Nothing at all!)

Why:
To take advantage of the Easter weekend, and to revisit old haunts.

Home away from home:
Airbnb. (https://www.airbnb.co.uk/rooms/253128)

Where I went + what I did:
City tour bus of Berlin - 2 day ticket covers two routes, worth doing both, I picked mine up just off Alexanderplatz, and on the second day by the Central Station (Hauptbanhof) - but there are several stops where you can get on, or off.
Boat trip along the river - I picked out up just outside the GDR Museum, a different way to get a sense of the city.
The Jewish Museum, Lindenstraße 9-14, 10969 Berlin, +49 30 25993300.
East Side Gallery, Mühlenstraße, 10243 Berlin, +49 172 3918726, open 24 hours.
Breakfast up the TV tower - could not book online, so sent an email which worked perfectly. Bought the ticket which gives fasttrack access to the tower in the lift both up down (worth the price alone). Breakfast, extra charge, was served by attentive staff, it was delicious and even on a dull day the views across the city were breathtaking :), TV Turm Alexanderplatz, Gastronomiegesellschaft mbH, Panoramastraße 1A, D-10178 Berlin, email: [email protected].
Arts Market on Museum Island - small, friendly arts market - selling an interesting range of hand made items at very reasonable prices.

Next trip: Chichester, UK, for a weekend
